چکیده

A situated approach is employed to in order to study distributed collaborative learning. We present a case study of how one group of students collaborate through a groupware system called TeamWave Workplace. In addtion, we provide an illustration of a case involving a particularly interesting form of use concerning this topic. The main aim of the article is to gain insights into some of the problems students’ encounter in distributed communication, especially in regard to how participants establish a shared context for their activities. A particularly important issue in this regard is related to how the system is used in order to manage intersubjectivity. The system offer both opportunities and obstructions as regards communication, depending on how the participants use it for what purposes.

Collaborative Virtual Environments as Means to Increase the Level of Intersubjectivity in a Distributed Cognition System

Virtual environments are able to extend the space of interaction beyond the classroom. In order to analyze how distributed cognition functions in such an extended space, we suggest focusing on the architecture of intersubjectivity. The Euroland project—a virtual land created and populated by seven classrooms supported by a team of researchers—was analyzed with the aim of tracking down the proce...

Getting the point: The role of gesture in managing intersubjectivity in a design activity

This paper illustrates the complexity of pointing as it is employed in a design workshop. Using the method of interaction analysis, we argue that pointing is not merely employed to index, locate or fix reference to an object, but also constitutes a practice for reestablishing intersubjectivity and solving interactional trouble such as misunderstandings or disagreements by virtue of enlisting so...

Managing Photovoltaic Generation Effect On Voltage Profile Using Distributed Algorithm

In this paper, a distributed method for reactive power management in a distribution system has been presented. The proposed method focuses on the voltage rise where the distribution systems are equipped with a considerable number of photovoltaic units. This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMMs) approach for solving the optimal voltage control problem in a distri...
